The Ohio Workforce Investment Board

Under the WIA, each state has its own Workforce Policy Board in addition to the local Workforce Investment Board.

In September 1999, Governor Bob Taft created the Governor's Workforce Policy Board to improve Ohio's employment and training services through systemic workforce development change.

The Governor's Workforce Policy Board regularly assesses Ohio's employment needs and addresses them. The Board also helps the Governor set performance goals and priorities, continuously improves the State's workforce development system, and assists those local leaders who will shape workforce development policy at the local level.

Members represent a range of groups including business, organized labor, legislators, education, social service agencies and others who have a stake in employment and training issues.
